Concert preview: Drowners

Joel Oliphint

For a while, Drowners seemed like the perfect band to listen to when you were missing the Strokes. Listening to the Brooklyn band's self-titled debut was like stepping back in time to the post-punk revival of the early 2000s (remember Interpol?). But now that the Strokes are back, where does that leave Drowners? Judging from the songs released in advance of the band's new albumOn Desire, due later this month on Frenchkiss Records, Drowners saw no need to reinvent its already indebted sound.
