Concert preview: The Caribbean

Joel Oliphint
The Caribbean

If you're the type to run far away when you see a band described as "experimental," don't let that keep you from checking out D.C. pop deconstructionists the Caribbean. There's nothing harsh or particularly challenging about the trio's songs, other than not knowing where the sparkle-clean guitar chord progressions will lead or if/how singer Michael Kentoff, whose tenor recalls the Weakerthans' John K. Samson, will tie his literary lyrics together. Caribbean songs are balls of string that require some untangling but won't make your fingers sore in the process.(Safe bet)
