Concert preview: Shonen Knife

Joel Oliphint

Since forming in 1981, Japanese rock trio Shonen Knife has toured with Nirvana and signed to major labels. Even though mainstream success has remained elusive, the band has continued to perform its playful, Ramones-y songs for 35 years (with a rotating lineup but same singer, Naoko Yamano). In April, Shonen Knife released its 19th (!) studio album,Adventure, featuring standout track "Wasabi," in which the band remarks on the green paste's "pungent taste" before launching into the chorus: "Hot hot wasabi! / Why is it so hot?"(Don't miss it)
