Concert preview: Temples

Joel Oliphint

British foursome Temples took some flak for the derivative quality of the psych-rock sounds on its 2014 debut,Sun Structures, but that was more of a critic's quibble, because fans generally don't care if a band apes a sound as long as it does it well. And Temples is undeniably good at crafting trippy, '60s-style psych-pop nuggets. New single "Certainty," from the band's forthcoming sophomore album, uses more modern synth sounds, though singer James Bagshaw said he was going for "an eerie, early Disney vibe."(Safe bet)
