In January, doctors diagnosed Beau McNaboe — known to many in the music scene as rapper the Catalyst — with stage II testicular cancer. An expensive, energy-sapping regimen of chemotherapy ensued, which also required a leave of absence from McNaboe's job. As detailed in a recent Alive cover story, McNaboe's girlfriend, Kristin Decker, set up a fundraising campaign through GoFundMe that raised more than $9,000.

The cancer spread to McNaboe's stomach, and he has to go under the knife again, so his friends are putting on a show “to not only celebrate Beau himself, but to help alleviate the financial strain of outstanding [medical] bills,” according to the event description. The Test Fest lineup is stacked with a hip-hop-heavy, all-star local lineup fitting for a talent such as the Catalyst. Hitting two stages at Rehab Tavern on Saturday, June 17, areJacoti Sommes, Envelope, Dominique Larue, J. Rawls, DJ Detox, Hugs & Kisses, Hustle Brand, Bohno, Metro, George Brazil andBeggars, plus a couple of surprise performances. All proceeds from the $10 cover will go directly to McNaboe.
