Concert preview: Taylor Swift at Ohio Stadium

Joel Oliphint

Once upon a time, Taylor Swift was a country superstar. In 2014, with the release 1989, she became one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Then last year, she released follow-up Reputation to lukewarm reviews and more than a few eye rolls. So now, in 2018 … she's still one of the biggest pop stars in the world. A mediocre album can't come close to sinking T Swift. “My reputation's never been worse,” she sings on current single “Delicate,” which recently hit No. 1 on the Adult Pop Songs chart. It seems like she's actually doing just fine.

Taytay's openers are nothing to sneeze at. For weeks my kids ran around the house singing, “Havana ohh na-na,” and the whole time I thought, “I wonder what the real lyrics to this song are.” Then I finally heard the single fromCamila Cabello and realized those are, in fact, the proper lyrics. The pop singer's second single, “Never Be the Same,” is currently rising on multiple charts.

Until recently, party-hard synth-popperCharlie XCX consistently reveled in her all-fun-all-the-time lifestyle, but with new song “No Angel,” she admits, “I'm no angel, but I can learn.” Regardless of her Saturday night or Sunday morning headspace, Charlie XCX has hooks for days. Proof: She wrote the catchy chorus to Iggy Azalea's “Fancy.”(Safe bet)
