Concert preview: The Felice Brothers at Rumba Cafe

Joel Oliphint

“Jack at the Asylum,” a Felice Brothers song from 2016 album Life in the Dark, finds the Upstate New York roots-rock act penning an ode to America. But it's more castigation than love letter. “I've seen your pastures of green/The crack whores, the wars on the silver screen/Hiroshima and the lynching tree/It's a wonder my eyes still can see,” the Dylan-indebted tune goes, before launching into a chorus you'd be hard-pressed to pair with fireworks: “America! America! You give me nightmares.” (Safe bet)
