Concert preview: Herzog at the Summit

Joel Oliphint

Cleveland's Herzog just released a new album of slacker-pop anthems, Me vs. You, the band's first record since 2014's head-turning Boys. Herzog splits the difference between Pavement and Sloan, with guitar-driven, hooky choruses galore and just enough loose grit around the edges to keep things bracingly erratic. Me vs. You is the type of concise, irresistible record you wish Bob Pollard would take the time to make, but Herzog is no GBV rip-off. These 10 songs from singer/guitarist Nick Tolar and lyricist Tony Vorell stand just fine on their own. (Don't miss it)
