The last time we checked in with Matt and John Umland, the brothers were gearing up for the farewell show of Tin Armor, a beloved indie-rock/pop-punk quartet that played local and national stages for about 10 years. Flyover Fest hosted the band's final concert in May of 2019, just after Tin Armor released its swan song, the excellent Born Hollow.

Matt Umland relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, a few years ago, and earlier this month the singer/guitarist/keys player released Do It Now, a five-track solo EP that picks up where Born Hollow track "Get Used to It" left off, ditching the big-guitar sound of early Tin Armor and employing even more bouncy synths and electro-pop rhythms. Umland pairs vulnerable lyrics with power-pop melodies and downright danceable beats, all bathed in the smooth, sparkle-quirk production of Glenn Davis. All that to say, it sounds great.
