Daily Distraction: Joel posts about Phoebe Bridgers again
It's just that she's very, very good
Sorry, can't help myself.
First off, Phoebe Bridgers released her contribution to forthcoming compilation The Metallica Blacklist, a 53-track covers album benefiting charity that celebrates the 30th anniversary of Metallica's seminal 1991 self-titled full-length, best known as The Black Album.
For her part, Bridgers put a baroque spin on the track "Nothing Else Matters," ditching Metallica's acoustic guitar for what sounds like a prepared piano, then adding processed strings and beats as the song progresses. It's, um, very good. Check it out below.
Also, Bridgers released a series of remixes for her Punisher song "Kyoto," including one that's less of a remix and more of a cover by Bartees Strange, who also happens to be great. Listen to that one via Bandcamp below.
OK that's it. For now.
