"I don't know who needs to hear this/Sometimes it's good to sing your feelings."

That's the opening line of new Tomberlin single "idkwntht," a song that finds the Saddle Creek artist following her own advice in tender fashion, letting the vulnerable words drift out like water vapor on a winter day. Told Slant’s Felix Walworth acts as an echo while repeating plucks of acoustic guitar, soft piano and intermittent, breathy saxophone provide a comforting space for Tomberlin's admissions. "This song is simple, but it ain’t easy/To sing it like it is, believe me," she sings.

"'idkwntht' is a sonic altar of sorts," Sarah Beth Tomberlin said in a statement about the track. "It’s about taking a moment for remembrance, clarity, and setting an intention for what is to come. Kind of like a song version of writing out your intentions on a full moon. Holding onto feelings, words, and past versions of ourselves and our behavior only helps when we can examine experiences once we are outside of them. Then we have to let it out, let it go, and try again."
