On the heels of 400: An Afrikan Epic, a 12-album cycle that traces Black America from the beginning of the slave trade in 1619 through today and into the future using classical, jazz, gospel and other music forms, drummer and composer Mark Lomax is releasing Prismatic Refractions No. 1, described as "a collection of spontaneous compositions that create a tapestry of sound and engage the listener in the rhythm and the stories that power this performance."

“We can’t escape what’s happening in the world today. These challenges have fragmented the human trajectory, but we are stronger together, and only we can truly heal ourselves,” Lomax said in a statement. “Music is a language that transcends social and societal buriers and connects with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Prismatic Refractions No. 1 is probing and healing, to guide us on this journey.”
