Daily Distraction: Listen to Lydia Loveless cover Jason Isbell
The Columbus singer and songwriter recently performed a gorgeous version of '24 Frames' as part of the Kirk Family Benefit & Tribute
In early March, Kevin Kirk, the beloved owner of the Heavy Metal Shop, a record store in Salt Lake City, Utah, lost his wife, Angie, and the music community to which he has dedicated his life has rallied in kind.
Recently, musicians ranging from Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers to Columbus natives such as Lydia Loveless, Micah Schnabel and Vanessa Jean Speckman performed as part of the Kirk Family Benefit & Tribute, designed to raise money for Kevin Kirk as he moves forward as the sole caregiver of the couple's two young children. (A GoFundMe has also been established, which you can donate to here.)
For the benefit, Loveless, seated at a piano and accompanied by Secret Studio co-owner Keith Hanlon on drums, delivered a gorgeous take on Jason Isbell's "24 Frames," a song that perfectly captures the beauty life can present and also the devastation it can inflict, which can often send us reeling without a moment's notice.
