What are you wearing?
Julie Kano
Job: OSU senior and Express intern
Neighborhood: Campus
Hometown: Medina
Label your style: Centered around simple, well-made pieces
Where do you shop?
I buy my basics at Express. I do a lot of online shopping - I like ChickDowntown.com. And I love Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom.
What kinds of things do you like?
I like things to be simple but well constructed. I wear a lot of black and white and gray, [with] a pop of color.
How did you used to dress?
In high school, my way of rebelling was to dress as crazy as I could. I'm half-Japanese, so I was obsessed with Harajuku ... and anything that was bright-colored or sequins.
Who's your fashion icon?
I love the Olsen Twins - like, love the Olsen Twins. I look at what they wear a lot. I love Kate Moss.
What's your favorite piece in your closet?
I have a pair of Harem pants I bought at Zara in Boston. My roommates think they're hysterical. They're kind of like MC Hammer - but mine are black.
What's your splurge item?
Shoes. If I find a pair I really, really love, I'll probably buy it. There are limits to how much I'll spend, but if I know I can afford it somewhere down the line, it's probably going to happen.
How much have you spent on one pair?
$400.
