Pembe Besingi: What are you wearing?
Job: Ohio State sophomore
Neighborhood: Campus
Hometown: Yaounde, Cameroon
Label your style: "A statement-making assortment"
Where do you like to shop?
I have a lot of very different friends, and they all like to shop in different places, but I still like to go shopping regardless. I can find anything anywhere. I'm not a frequent same-place shopper.
What do you like to wear?
I like if everything in an outfit is interesting. I don't like to highlight one thing. If one thing's simple, I want everything to be simple; if one thing's interesting, I want everything to be interesting.
Do you ever dress like a regular college student?
No, because I interned with Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati for two summers, and their attire is business-casual every day. After doing that, it sort of stuck with me, and wearing a T-shirt out of my dorm now is just kind of odd to me.
What are some of your favorite things in your closet?
One of my favorites is this scarf that looks black from a distance, but the detail is very Indian-looking. I think I got it at Urban Outfitters. And I have a pair of jeans from Forever 21 - I never really shopped there for jeans, but they're dark blue with gold stitching and look good with everything. And I just got these black gladiator heels from Shi in Tuttle mall. They have gold studs all over them, and they're so cute.
The outfit:
Shirt: from Pitaya. "It's a dress. And I'm wearing it backward. I really like the design, so I didn't want to wear it in the back."
Skirt: from Gap Outlet
Pearls: shorter strands are her mom's; longer loop is from Forever 21
Gold necklace: from Cameroon, a gift from her parents
Earrings: from her mom
Shoes: Bakers
