Dine Originals Week
So make plans to try out a place you've always had your eye on, or visit an old favorite to try an innovative new dish. The winter installment of this semiannual, fixed-price menu event is happening March 8-14.
"We schedule this twice a year to entice guests to experience the bold taste of independence," Dine Originals executive director Katharine Moore said. "Each of our members are locally owned and operate with a scratch kitchen."
Here's the meat and potatoes of the event: 41 local restaurants will offer fixed-price meals for $10.10, $20.10 or $30.10. And most will be serving menus designed specifically for Dine Originals Week.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Local Matters, a Columbus nonprofit that provides nutrition education in elementary schools where it is needed most, Moore said.
Some restaurants are offering dinner menus, others have lunch menus and a few are offering both. Check the Dine Originals website to see if reservations are required at your restaurant of choice.
If you're considering making one, here's a sampling of what you have to look forward to:
At Deepwood, a three-course dinner could include a cod beignet, lobster Bolognese and Chocolate and Walnut Toll House Pie for $30.10.
At Surly Girl Saloon, $20.10 could get you Caliente Crab Spread with tortilla chips, Posole Stew and a bourbon-spiked cupcake.
And at Katzinger's, you'll pay $10.10 for your choice of sandwich (Cajun Meatloaf, Open-Faced Smoked Turkey or Mushroom Mayhem) and a fudge brownie.
