Voszi Douglas is a receptionist by day and a designer by passion. She's been drawing fashion sketches since she can remember and sewing for more than 25 years. The 53-year-old Columbus resident created her first line of clothing in 1982 and hasn't stopped since. Her two lines, Voszi Designs and the Alvoyce Collection, feature original designs that have made her a standout in the Columbus fashion scene.

Women's clothing, purses, artwork, greeting cards and fashion sketches. My biggest sellers are blouses and coats.

They are one-of-a-kind-no buttons, zippers or commercial patterns. They are real multifunctional, not structured. My outfits are something you will either love or at least notice.

Once a year, I preview my new collection in the fall. I also do fashion shows for organizations throughout the year. I have regular clients as well.

I always try to wear something I design. I like colors, textures, comfort, and mixing and matching things.

How does your job at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center affect your designs and ideas?

I'm a receptionist there, so I get to meet a lot of artists and clients. I draw inspiration from the artwork there.

I am inspired by colors, shapes, fabrics and the way things go together. I love fashion; it's my passion. This is what I always wanted to do.
