After a year in their relatively small Greystone apartment, Janean Weber and Kyle Schneider finally understand the ins and outs of their Short North dwelling.

Yes, there's a lovely view of Greystone's vine-covered courtyard and fountain, but the fourth-floor perks are tempered by the lack of an elevator.

And the need for organization is pressing when built-in storage is at a premium.

Amazingly, their space - cooled by just one window air conditioner - felt roomy and comfortable during a hot July visit, like a well-worn T-shirt.

Make that a vintage T-shirt.

"It's retro-inspired, but with kitsch," said Weber, 27, an assistant attorney general. "I have a few sort of kitschy things mixed in. If it's sort of ugly, then I'm drawn to it."
