'Net sales: Online boutiques worth checking out
Bustown Modern Vintage
The race is on every Monday, when this boutique sticks new items up for bid in its eBay store. Anessa Woods and Paul Fogt have been selling like this since 2004, and currently shoppers will find vintage clothing and accessories. Despite their recycled status, Woods said, the looks are "based entirely on current and upcoming trends."
Rara Forma
A recently spawned spinoff of Bustown Modern, Paul Fogt's operation sells 20th-century decorative arts, designer furniture and high-end modern pieces. Visitors will also find standout art and sculpture pieces.
Designs by Mandi
After moving to Columbus "broke and fresh out of college," Mandi Gulker became disheartened by a lack of long-lasting, affordable jewelry. Thus, the Art Institute of Charlotte grad made her own baubles and began selling them to other broke grads in August.
La Vie en Rouge
Created by Candace Moser-Stafford - aka Ohio Roller Girls' Texas Chainsaw Sasskicker - this site sells vintage and handcrafted accessories with a punch of old-timey glamour. Starting April 1, Moser-Stafford will offer her clothing line Crystal & Maude. Prices will range from $10 to $125, and dresses max at $165.
