Restaurant Review: Blue Turtle Tea & Spice Co.
In uptown Westerville, Blue Turtle is a tea-and-spice shop with an informal restaurant.
Some of the Blue Turtle offerings find their way into the modest number of dishes on the bistro menu. One great example: the roasted-curry apricot chicken salad ($8.50).
Roasted chicken is dressed with a curry in which a nutty flavor replaces a chili heat. The curry does a fine job of seasoning without masking. The accompanying salad uses mostly designer greens, said to be organic, that show good freshness. The thick balsamic vinaigrette is on the side.
Blue Turtle boasts unusual crab cakes ($17.50 for two), composed almost entirely of shredded crab and lump crabmeat with subtle seasoning.
The cakes are cooked in a panini grill, with no added oil. They are served on an avocado-and-cream puree and presented with a salad of marinated artichoke hearts and designer lettuces.
