Kitchen Little - the prepared-foods side of North Market Poultry and Game - is a perfect example of a quirky little indie, counter-only operation using wonderful local ingredients to deliver huge homegrown flavors. Maybe that's why Kitchen Little's fan base is ever-growing - count celebrity chef Rick Bayless in that group as he recently raved about KL's ridiculously delicious cassoulet on Twitter.
The goods: Since Kitchen Little isa commercial purveyor of great Ohio meats, it has access to some of the freshest stuff around, like chicken from Gerber and Speckled Hen (Morrow County); turkeys from Bowman and Landes (Miami County); rabbits from Flint Ridge Farm (Summit County); bison from Red Run Farms (Summit County); dairy from Snowville Creamery (Meigs County); Amish eggs and honey from Ashland County and a whole mess of veggies from Richard Zimmerman's farm in DeGraff.
Eat this: Of course that outrageous cassoulet, but also killer made-from-scratch biscuits and gravy; beery, spicy and award-winning bison chili plus mind-blowing chicken and waffles made with "alive two days ago" poultry.
