Flowers and Food

I came upon local floral design company Natural Designs after a local bride couldn't stop raving about the fairytale wedding they helped her create (note the stunning centerpieces pictured above we featured in the current issue of Capital Style Bride). So of course I had to meet the creative mind, Regina Carmody Prange, a 30-year veteran of the event design industry, who by choice, has opted to fly a bit under the radar, styling weddings and private and home events. She introduced me to Johnson & Wales grad Brooke Kinsey, and the concept they've partnered on, Bleu & Fig-a floral meets food catering and event design concept. They see food as part of the décor-from the way each season dish looks, down to the platter on which it's served. Their goal is to sync each event into one fabulous vision. "We wanted to be able to put all that together," Prange says. "And throw a great party. A wedding is a party, it's entertaining." Prange and Kinsey will walk you through menu planning (ask them about their thoughts on heavy hors d'ouevres-fabulous!), talk about what you envision for the day (a romantic setting with lots of candles, perhaps?), and then they'll handle the details, down to linens, china and lighting. It's a great concept-one that can surely take the stress out of worrying about your wedding-day details. For more, visit them here. –Beth Stallings
