Get Your Flea On

The Summer Flea tents up this Sunday, Aug. 5 in a new home on the grounds of soon-to-open Seventh Son Brewing Co. at 1101 N. Fourth St. (at the corner of East Fourth Avenue-or at "Fourth and Fourth for short). While the locale has changed (construction at the Fireproof Storage parking lot forced the move), the style of featured vendors has remained. The open-air market will boast stands selling art, jewelry, reclaimed furniture, vintage records and clothes, and unique house wares. A few familiar vendors include: furniture and art shop Opal Stackhouse; vintage T-shirt dealer Ghetto Vintage; jewelry makers Rubyblu Jewelry, STMP.D, Zebra Pie Gifts; and LP dealers Elizabeth's Records, Spoonful Records, and Moses Carryout Records. Plus, you can grab a bite at Latin-leaning cuisine purveyor Freedom a la Cart. The Flea will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free as always. Proceeds from vendor booth fees will continue to benefit Mid-Ohio Foodbank's Operation Feed-a campaign that puts meals on the tables of struggling Central Ohioans. Last year, all three Fleas drew roughly 5,000 shoppers and booth fees raised $3,600 for the Foodbank. Oh, and in case you're curious, local craft brewer Seventh Son is headed up by the owners of Bodega and Barrel & Bottle and plans to open its 5,500-square-foot facility sometime this fall. And mark your calendars for the Fall Flea: Oct. 7 also at the new locale. –Beth Stallings
