To make room for upcoming fall looks, Big Rock Little Rooster will host a sample sale this Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gowns from each of the lines the Short North bridal boutique carries-including Romona Keveza, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka and Jenny Lee-will be marked down, ranging from $999 to $2,499. No need to make an appointment as dresses will be sold on a first come basis. Just pop in. Big Rock fans will also want to mark calendars for Aug. 23-25, as the bridal shop hosts its three-year anniversary trunk show (and unveils its new Vera Wang offerings). So, what should we expect from next season's bridal looks? Lisa Sullivan, who took over as chick-in-charge in June and found her own Vera Wang wedding dress at Big Rock in 2010, says a lot of looks are carrying over from spring. Lots of texture, layering of fabric (think lace over a ruching over a colored or nude bodice). "Things aren't so clean and tidy," says Sullivan-a look the also event/wedding planner loves, confessing her style is a bit rough around the edges. Expect to see her style spill over into the store a bit, adding a rock-and-roll flair to the shop's current softer feel.
