This year marks the 20th anniversary of Decorators' Show House, an event for which local designers each decorate one room of a home for guests to tour. The Women's Board of the Columbus Museum of Art, which runs the show, selected a 1922 Bexley manor for this spring's event. Richard Sherman of R. Sherman Designs renovated the show house's study, shown here. Sherman, who has been designing for 15 years, was eager to transform it into a warm, private space. "I always have the phantom family in mind and how they would use it," Sherman says. "It's a quiet study the family can retreat to." He added character by using a rose hue on the previously stark ceiling. "People are so afraid of painted ceilings," Sherman says, "but it really adds a nice touch of color."

Guests may visit the 2013 Decorators' Show House from April 23 to May 12. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door. There are two parties in conjunction with the event: A 1920s-themed preview party April 20 ($100) and a Cinco de Mayo Party May 5 ($35 to $50). Learn more at ColumbusMuseum.org/DSH.
