Fashion Student Gets Runway Ready

"My favorite designer is Isabel Marant," says Maryland native Sarah Frederick, shown with three of her designs in the CCAD studios. "I would love to work with her."

Fashion design student Sarah Frederick has invested hundreds of hours-five to nine of them a night, for months-creating a clothing collection that will cap her studies at the Columbus College of Art & Design. Now that collection, which includes the dresses shown here, is among the many ready to rock the runway. The annual CCAD Senior Fashion Show is the night of May 10, preceded by a VIP reception and followed by an after-party with cocktails and dancing. The show traditionally sells out its 800 tickets, wowing several city power players with work by students like Frederick. The 22-year-old describes her comfy-luxe pieces as rustic and feminine. "It just has a lot to do with what I want to be wearing," she says of her inspiration. "It all comes from a dream state of where I would rather be."

General admission tickets start at $100 and VIP tickets start at $325 at CCAD.edu.
