'I Feel Like the Queen'

Capital Style is teaming with several local style experts to transform one deserving woman in each issue this year. This month, meet Barb Bochy. She's a wife, a mom, a grandmother and a kindergarten aide who deserved a little pampering. "Everyone has been so wonderful," she says. "I feel like the Queen."

Meet Barb Bochy

Age: 62

Neighborhood: Galloway

Job: Kindergarten aide at St. Cecilia Catholic School

Family: Husband, Bob; four children; three grandchildren

Her story: For the last 10 years, Barb has spent her days chasing children. "She deserves this," says her younger sister, Joan Cox, who nominated her for the makeover. "No one works harder than Barb." While excited to take some time to relax and celebrate herself, Barb has also relished sharing what she learned through the process. "I've been excited to share this with other people and encourage them to visit these places I went to," she says. "It was fun trying on clothes. And I loved the hot bath with the massage."

Hair at J.Bentley

Salon manager Joy Chevalier added a natural brown to compliment the gray in Barb's hair, and cut the hair slightly shorter in the back. "It's clean and simple," notes Chevalier. "It keeps it easy in the morning."

Skin Treatments at Sullivan Centre

"We used Intense Pulse Light to correct visible pigments on the neck, arms and hands," says skin-care specialist Dina Maynard. Barb also had a combination of microdermabrasion and plasma resurfacing to smooth facial lines.

Makeup at Mukha

Tim Maurer, owner of Mukha Custom Cosmetics and Medi-Spa, used bronzer beneath Barb's cheekbones and on her nose, calling it "Spanx for your face." Maurer added a pop of color with turquoise as eyeliner, not eyeshadow.

Clothing from Boho 72

A sheer tunic top ($56), cami ($19) and lace leggings ($18) show off both Barb's figure and personality.

Spa treatments at Woodhouse Day Spa

Barb relaxed with the Rest and Renewal Ritual, which includes a scrub to exfoliate, a soak in the bathtub and a massage. Barb's hands and nails were treated to a Woodhouse Signature Manicure, with gel polish French tips that last two to three weeks without chipping.

Accessories from Audacious Boutique

Gold and turquoise earrings ($36) and a ring ($28) complemented the sheer top and added color to the complete look. Barb can use the black clutch ($45) for both casual and formal events.
