Thinking about which new trends to incorporate into your wardrobe each season can be very overwhelming. There are so many to choose from, and some of them may seem unapproachable. I wanted to talk about a few of my favorite Spring 2013 fashion and beauty trends. You might be able to find some of those items in your own closet, like I did in the outfit I'm wearing below!
Stripes
I love the classic ease of a good stripe. What's great about this trend is that you probably already have something in your closet that is striped. I've had this t-shirt from J. Crew for a long time, and it never fails me. I pull it out on the days that I "have nothing to wear" with a great pair of jeans and flats. Pair it with distressed jeans for an unexpected edge.
Pointed Flats
I was skeptical about this trend at first, but once I saw these adorable leopard flats from Madewell, I was hooked! It's a super feminine look, which is fun.
Mixed Prints
This has been a trend for a while, but it was still a strong statement on the spring runways (like at the Isabel Marant runway show).Try a stripe with leopard print (like I did in my outfit) or a floral print with polka dots. It's unexpected and adds interest to any outfit.
Nude Nails
I'm not giving up on nail art just yet, but it's nice to take a break with a classic nude nail-plus it's harder to tell when you paint outside the lines.
Playful Bags
We saw some fun clutches and bags on the runway this spring. From the Chanel Hula Hoop bagto the paper bag Vasari clutch from Jil Sander, adding an element of playfulness to an outfit is easy in the form of a clutch. The bag in my outfit is from Zara, and I love how it's lunch-bag inspired. It's totally acceptable to hide a snack in there. (I mean, if the shoe fits, right?)
Low, Loose Ponytail
Finally, a hairstyle I can actually achieve! This was seen in the Elizabeth and James Spring 2013 collection. I love the undone quality of this look. You can even tuck the ponytail into a scarf and pull the hair out just a bit for an extra cool look.
Bright Lips
This has also been very popular for the past few seasons, and it was all over the spring runways. Try branching out from traditional red with a bright fuchsia for spring. The lipstick I'm wearing is from MAC.
Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
This is a great way to toughen up your look-plus they're super comfortable. If you're not ready to go really baggy with your jeans, but you still want to try this trend, you can go for a more fitted pair that still has distressing.
Statement Necklaces
Another easy way to update your wardrobe. Add a show-stopping necklace to a simple white t-shirt and jeans, and you have an easy, yet unique, look. The one in my outfit from Honey Rose & Kwill do the trick! You can shop this collection at Rowe Boutique.
