The Runway Report
I've been in New York for two days, and there is one thing for certain about this year's fall fashion: It's all about the coat. We saw phenomenal coats-long, short, classic, dramatic, belted, capes. I'm a bit of a coat freak, so I was positively delighted.
Other trends of note? Leather is back-and bigger than ever. Most designers showed it in black, and it was all over, from skinny pants to coat sleeves. Marissa Webb had many of her models in elbow-length leather armlets (or at least that's what I'm calling them, as they were like super long, elbow-length gloves minus anything on the hands).
We also saw the continuation of fur, generally as an accessory-collars, scarves, muffs. Color-wise, black and gray dominated, but we did see more than a few pops of red, in everything from fire-engine to wine. And if you're keeping score, here are my awards thus far…
