Tour the Hocking Hills on a Segway

Kristen Schmidt

Move over, romantic weekend cottage. Hello, untouched Hocking Hills terrain ... via Segway. Hocking Hills Canopy Tours just added this new off-roading adventure to its menu of outdoor fun. It sounds simultaneously terrifying and thrilling.

Your guided Segway Adventure lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours and cost $59. Tour guides point out "unique features of the area" while visitors navigate along. In case you were wondering whether you were misremembering, no, there are still no straight, smooth, paved paths in the Hocking Hills. Just bumpy, hilly, steep trails and roads. Hocking Hills Canopy Tours uses Off-Road SegwayX2 machines, and they sound amazing (at least a press release makes them sound amazing):

"Carefully designed to offer a highly intuitive driver experience, the all-terrain Segway X2 offers the ultimate way to see Hocking Hills' dramatic scenery. Drivers report that it feels as if the Segway can read their mind as they glide along rugged paths taking in the area's lush natural surroundings. While they easily master the Segway, guests discover ancient recessed caves, the scenic Hocking River, majestic old-growth trees, native plants and wildlife and much more on the adventures."

The tour costs $59 and is available for visitors 14 and older who weigh between 100 and 260 pounds.
