Not your ordinary food court

Michelle Sullivan

If you work Downtown, you know there are a handful of options for a quick but delicious lunch-and you've likely enjoyed them all time and time again. Needless to say, the food truck food court in the Columbus Commons is a welcome change of pace come summer. Every Thursday through October, eight mobile kitchens line the park's lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and serve dishes that range from veggie pitas and deli sandwiches to burgers and chorizo cheese fries.

Six trucks, including Challah, Pitabilities and Paddy Wagon, remain at the food court all season long, while two others rotate each month. This month, check out Blu Olive for a meatball sandwich or bison burger or The Cheesy Truck for an array of gourmet grilled cheeses. There's plenty of seating for those who want to soak up a little sun with their meal, but most dishes are easily transportable. Pro tip: The food trucks don't sell beverages, so be sure to pack your own or bring cash for the concession tent.

And don't forget the permanent Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream stand for dessert-if your food coma isn't already too pervasive for a productive afternoon back at the office, that is.
