Leal Boutique Hosts Runway to AWEARness Fundraiser

Upper Arlington's Leal boutique is hosting a Runway to AWEARnessFundraiser next Thursday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral at555 N. High St.

Monica Day of NBC4 will present a runway show featuring Leal's fall and winter styles, and attendees will have a chance to bid on some big items, including a Holland American cruise, Southwest Airline tickets, a Disney/Sea World Adventure and gift packages, at the event's raffle and silent auction.

Hors d'oeuvres and a signature teal cocktail will be served.

Tickets are $80, with proceeds going to thePatricia A. Dinunzio Ovarian Cancer Endowment at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

"Pat was a close, personal friend who lost her battle with this deadly disease this past June," Leal's owner, Connie Leal Ballenger, said in a release. "Please help us continue to battle in her memory."

Dinunzio was diagnosed in 2009 and launched the foundation in 2010. She passed away in June of 2014, but the endowment lives on, with funds going toward ovarian cancer research, patient education and community awareness through the James' Patient Navigation Program. TheRunway to AWEARness event has brought in more than $100,000 for the fund.
