First Look: Grandview Store Cosecha Serves Up Kitchen Goodies

Cosecha, a new Grandview gourmet kitchen shop, has opened its doors.

After a soft opening on Thursday, the latest store from the owners of Grandview's Objects for the Home and German Village's Vernacular is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The store, located at 1629 W. First Ave., is packed full of goodies for everyone, from the cooking novice to the seasoned chef.

Chelsea Cabot, who co-owns Cosecha, which means "harvest," with Kristopher Konieczko, said they wanted to make sure it was light and open, with plenty of goods to look at but enough space to browse (and push a stroller). Its setup feels very much like a cozy kitchen, with shelves (built by Cabot and Konieczko) all the way to the ceiling, and white brick peeking out behind.

Specialty foods, including a few gluten-free mixes, line the walls, as do spices, cookbooks, cutting boards and plenty of hostess gift items.

One of Cabot's favorite products?

"The private label mixes," she says.

They have a handful of options (in adorable packaging), from beer breads to scones, including a Lavender & Rose scone mix that Cabot said is delicious. And yes, they've sampled them all.

She's also a fan of the Charcoal Companion Tortilla Press, which she said she'll use to make corn tortillas for carnitas tacos with a pineapple jalapeño salsa (yum!), and the Mastrad Macaron Baking Sheet. Cosecha also has Curries by Nature, which are jarred Indian curries made with simple, healthy ingredients.

Stop by the store on grand opening day, and get there early-Cabot said she just may whip up some of those mixes for the first customers to sample.
