Alessandra Ambrosio: Q&A with a Victoria's Secret Angel

When Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio steps in front of a camera, she looks right at home.

When Victoria's Secret Angel (and world-renowned Brazilian supermodel) Alessandra Ambrosio steps in front of a camera, she looks right at home. She pops one hip, then the other, pursing her lips into a sexy pout one moment and flashing a joyous smile the next. She pushes her hair back, then pulls it to one side as the photographer says, "Yes, perfect."

So, what's her trick? How does she secure that "perfect" photo every time (and how can she suggest you do the same)? "Be natural," she advises. "Just be yourself." Ambrosio, 33, showed off her modeling chops on a recent visit to Columbus to promote Victoria's Secret's Incredible Front-Close Sport Bra. We snagged a few minutes with her to talk fitness, fashion and her favorite way to spend time with her 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.

What are you favorite ways to stay active?

Being outside. I love the beach, so surfing is my favorite. And playing volleyball with friends. If I have to get more of a serious workout, I do spinning classes and pilates.

How do you stay motivated?

I'll do something that I like. Instead of going to the gym, I'll go for a walk on the beach. Instead of a real workout, I'll go for a rollerblade or surfing-something that's a little bit more fun.

Favorite healthy meals?

Egg whites always in the morning, and maybe some turkey bacon. I eat a lot of avocados and guacamole, nuts. Whatever has some protein and gives you energy through the day.

You've become quite the street-style icon. What inspires you when you're getting dressed?

It's really about my mood in the morning. Do I want to wear colors? Do I want to just do basics? Sometimes I just want to be super comfortable.

Any favorite labels?

Victoria's Secret, of course. I'm a big fan of all the designers I've worked with-Versace, Dolce [&Gabbana].

Favorite family activity?

I love taking my kids to the pool. Almost every day, we go to the pool and swim and play in the water. They love the water. I was just on vacation in Hawaii and took them every day to the ocean. We spent the whole time in the water.
