Boho Jewelry Favorite Red Giraffe Designs Opens in the Short North

Red Giraffe Designs jewelry designer Kate Stevens has sold her bohemian-inspired necklaces, cuffs and earrings for years at craft shows and festivals. And now, fans of the earthy statement pieces-think long layering necklaces adorned with fat chunks of crystal and cuffs stamped with words like "free spirit" and "let it go"-won't have to mark the calendar to find them. Stevens, who's made jewelry"seriously" since 2012, opened her first brick-and-mortar space in the Short North last weekend.

"The move into this space had been in the works for a while," Stevens says. She and her husband purchased the retail space about a year ago but had to wait until leasee Impero Coffee Roasters moved out. "It was my hope to eventually use (the building) as my space, but (Impero) had a lease through 2017. They ended up not renewing, so it worked out pretty perfectly for us."

The boutique also serves as Stevens' studio space, where she works on custom orders. She's open for business by appointment only on Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Check out behind-the-scenes shots here.
