Last year, Fashion Meets Music Festival (FMMF) hosted a gala to support its charitable arm, the Fusion Foundation. This year, says local PR maven Christina Christian, the focus has shifted-instead of an evening of wining and dining, the foundation will host Fusion Forum on August 12 at the Gateway Film Center.

The event-an afternoon of discussion focused on making it big in the music and fashion industries-will feature several panels of local experts, from designers and bloggers to educators and seasoned musicians.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will hear from industry leaders on topics ranging from "Start Here: How to Break Into & Navigate the Industry" (featuring Groove U's Dwight D. Heckelman) and "Ballin' Bloggers: How I Started a Sustainable & Profitable Fashion Blog" (featuring Candace Read, Belinda Frazer and Kholá Waddy-Jones).

Then, at 5 p.m., the FMMF Pop-Up Fashion Marketplace will open. Featuring local fashion designers and more, the event is free.

Tickets for the forum, available here, are $15 for general admission and $10 for students.

Other panel speakers include reps from CCAD, Capital Style (yes, we'll be there!), Substream Magazine, Cincy Chic, Malvar=Stewart and more.
