Columbus After Dark: The Late Shift with DJ B-Hoff

DJ B-Hoff, OSUalum invited to the Campus DJ National Semifinals this fall: I'm feeling pretty confident. I know that I have what it takes. I just need to feel the crowd and atmosphere and be able to play what the people want. Being in control of the room is one of the best feelings. I used to be a big wrestler in high school, and I loved the feeling of being out in the middle of the mat with all eyes on me. I get the same adrenaline rush-like feeling when I'm DJing for a big crowd. I feed off the crowd by looking at the people in the back when I drop a great song and watching their heads turn and their feet start moving. I love looking out and seeing people dancing to the beat of whatever I'm playing. I love that for concerts; it's an event, so people are coming out to have a good time. People really want to let loose and really enjoy themselves. I love the atmosphere. Everyone's really excited because they're coming especially for an artist. You can feel the intensity, and the general vibe is really exciting. You can feel the anticipation. In Columbus, during the week, [concerts] go until 11 p.m., and on weekends they go until 2 a.m. In Barcelona, they would go until eight in the morning. -As told to Taylor Starek
