Real Wedding Wednesdays: Lauren Coulman and Brent Robbins

Emma Frankart Henterly

Lauren and Brent Robbins’ “how we met” story isn’t like most—the two first laid eyes on one another when Lauren took impressions of his teeth at her family’s dental practice. “Everyone was asking him if he was single and [saying] that I was available,” Lauren remembers. Brent’s online sleuthing led him to Lauren’s Facebook page, and within a few weeks they were on their first date.

Brent managed to surprise Lauren with his proposal, even though she knew to expect it. As he was moving some of his belongings into her apartment, he mentioned that he had to run out to the car to grab a few more things. When he returned, he was holding flowers and an engagement ring.

The couple’s elegant spring wedding featured a timeless color palette—ivory, blush and gold—which remains popular now, nearly two years later. But the evening was not without some snafus.

“I forgot to bring my beautiful cake topper!” Lauren says. “Everyone always says something will go wrong, and that is what I realized I had forgotten moments before walking down the aisle.”

Fortunately, the forgotten topper didn’t create much havoc.

“Short North Piece of Cake did such an amazing job on my cake, it didn't even need the topper,” Lauren says. “My cake was beautiful, simple and even had a tier with gold leaf.”
