Real Wedding Wednesdays: Sadie Warthen and Nate Speiser

Some brides lament their mothers’ involvement in wedding planning, but not Sadie Speiser. Her mother—self-described artist, stylist, florist, decorator, pretty much “do-it-all wedding gal,” sign painter and porcelain maker/china painter”—owns the eponymous Pat Warthen Design, and Sadie used nearly every one of those talents in planning her wedding.
Sadie and Pat made the decorations and signage for the entire event, and Pat further acted as wedding planner and florist for the big day.
For a couple with a run-of-the-mill “how we met” story—Nate works with Sadie’s best friend—the newlyweds sure had a memorable reception. Most memorable, says Sadie, was the trebuchet that shot watermelons and fireworks across a field toward the end of the night.
