Real Wedding Wednesdays: Emily Maddern and Jimmy Anthony
It may be hard to believe, but Emily and Jimmy Anthony’s storybook wedding at the Mohicans has an even better storybook beginning.
It all started when two met during homecoming weekend of their freshmen year at Ohio University. “We clicked instantly,” says Emily.
Years later, the couple returned to Athens to celebrate OU’s homecoming weekend as alumni and to visit Jimmy’s younger brothers. Jimmy coaxed an unenthusiastic Emily, who wasn’t keen on going out in the rain, to the table where they first met as freshmen to tell his brothers the story of how they met.
Emily was completely oblivious to Jimmy’s intentions. “I’m only half listening and teasing him a little for getting so emotional in front of his brothers. I lost track of the story at some point,” she recalls. She was, understandably, taken off guard when she turned around to see Jimmy, ring in hand, kneeling behind her.
“It took me a minute to say ‘yes’ because I was just so surprised … I got there eventually,” she says. Though she teased him for getting emotional during the proposal, Emily says one of the most memorable parts of her wedding was Jimmy’s emotional and “heart-melting” reaction during their first look photos. With a story like that, we’re sure this adorable couple is sure to live a storybook happily ever after.
