Daily Bulletin: Art Adventures

As you plan your family’s summer vacation, consider adding one more item to the checklist: Find a local art studio that offers drop-in classes for children.

Most large cities have paint-your-own pottery studios, organized painting classes or some kind of artistic space where visitors can be creative. In Central Ohio, for example, visitors (and residents) can make candles, design jewelry, paint pottery, blow glass and much more.

Hanging out in an art studio is a great way to spend some quality family time together. It’s also a good rainy-day activity or an opportunity to get out of the hot summer sun. The finished piece also will make a great souvenir for your youngster—and hopefully be more meaningful than a T-shirt or a keychain.

To find classes and studios, check with the local visitors bureau or go to artshow.com/workshops.
