Families of military veterans and active duty service members can get help with back-to-school expenses thanks to a local nonprofit organization.

The Military Veterans Resource Center is conducting the Operation: Tools for School program through Aug. 31. Veterans, active duty personnel and guard and reserve members can receive assistance with back-to-school supplies for their children.

Those who wish to participate (or their spouses) can stop by MVRC’s Columbus Resource Center, 1395 E. Dublin Granville Road, Suite 350, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. They must provide proof of service and birth certificates or custody documentation for each child. Donations to the effort also can be dropped off at the center.

MVRC provides resources aimed at helping veterans be self-reliant and independent. The Columbus-based organization operates four centers around Ohio.
