Etsy Eight: August

Emma Frankart Henterly

Etsy is a go-to resource for many couples planning their weddings. But did you know that you can shop handmade and local? Check out our top Etsy picks for this month, all from shop owners based right here in Columbus.

OK, newly engaged ladies; this bag is for you! Featuring custom, hand-stitched lettering by astylishdesign and two roomy outer pockets, this tote will let the world know that you’re soon to be a Mrs. for just $22.50. It’s perfect for stashing all your stuff for the big day, if you ask us.

Also perfect for letting the world know what’s coming up for you? This hand-painted custom mug from WhiteGoldCalligraphy. We love the whimsical (and oh-so-trendy) font and the $16 price tag.

For drinks of a different kind, there are these custom stemless wine glasses—perfect for a bridesmaid gift. You can buy seven for $42 or eight for $45, and LilysCreationLab takes custom orders for those who might want an extra touch … though you can choose the name, font and colors with this order alone.

Succulents are gorgeous. Succulents are trendy. Unfortunately, succulents are also expensive. Enter these paper versions from dosiesposies. A single succulent will run you $6, but buying in bulk can get you discounts. And while live succulents are hardy, they do need watering on occasion, unlike these pretty substitutes.

Elegantly designed for your bridal ensemble, but low-key enough to be worn daily, this pearl bracelet is a great way to finish your look. KatieBurt14 makes them in four styles, and at $30 each, you might want to pick up two (or three!) for stacking purposes.

You know about getting “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue,” but did you know there’s another line to that saying? It traditionally is capped with “and a sixpence for your shoe.” Many drop this part of the tradition due to sixpences being harder to find, but BerrysGoods has your back (er, foot?). This sixpence is from 1963, but the shop has a wide variety of years and conditions available, so you might be able to find something that has special significance … the year your parents were wed, perhaps?

At your reception, you probably won’t want to toss your full-size, totally gorgeous bouquet to be ripped apart by your single friends. Opt instead for this lovely toss bouquet, which will break into two pieces when thrown to help spread the love. This rhinestone-and-rose version is $35, but EntertainingNStyle has had other versions in the shop, so keep your eyes peeled for fresh offerings.

When the wedding’s over, you and your new spouse will need a place to put your rings. This delicate dish, also from astylishdesign, is the perfect solution. Customizable with stamped or painted letters and a variety of edge options, these tiny containers are both sweet and functional. And at only $15, you can even buy two—one for each of you.

That's it for this edition of the Etsy Eight. Check back next month for more from our favorite Columbus shops!
