Daily Bulletin: Fall Farm Events

Melissa Kossler Dutton

Fall is the perfect time to take your family to a farm. If you have more in mind than picking a pumpkin, the Ohio Farm Bureau can help.

The organization, which supports Ohio farmers, usually has a wide array of farm-related activities on its calendar, many of which are either in or within an easy drive of Central Ohio. Check it out at ofbf.org/events.

Here’s a sampling of this month’s activities:

  • Buck Farms will show “Shaun the Sheep” Oct. 14 during its free Film on the Farm event. Children can check out the New Bloomington farm’s petting zoo before the show.
  • During Horse Fun Day (Oct. 21) at Nickajack Farms in North Lawrence, children ages 6 and older can ride, play games, make crafts and more. The event costs $40.
  • Visitors to the Apple Butter Stir & Horseradish Day at Lawrence Orchards in Marion can watch the products being made and buy some to take home. The Oct. 28 event is free.
