Real Wedding Wednesdays: Lauren Agee and Blair Suter

For college sweethearts Blair and Lauren Suter, New Year’s Eve has always been a special time. Lauren, a registered nurse, and Blair, resident physician, have a history of requesting to work on Christmas Day and take New Year’s Eve off to travel and celebrate. It’s also close to Lauren’s birthday—a fact that Blair used in his proposal.

“We spent the evening at The Pearl and went to the Columbus Zoo lights,” Lauren recalls. “We came back to [our home in] German Village to settle in and watch a movie. He asked me to open my birthday gift a day early; [he had] put together a box full of sentimental pictures, saved tickets, corks of special wine bottles, etc. He put a few love notes in there as well as a box which looked like it could be for a necklace. I opened it and it was empty; I looked up to see him on one knee with the ring in his hand!”

The pair chose the following New Year’s Eve as their wedding date, and of course the evening carried that theme. Their dinner included pork and sauerkraut—a German New Year’s Eve tradition—and guests rang in 2017 with a champagne toast at midnight … using stemless wine glasses that they then got to take home as favors.

An NYE wedding is hard to top, but we’re wishing the Suters an equally joyous celebration this year as well!
