CATCO is Kids will present “Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical” starting Jan. 12. From left are: Knuffle Bunny (Lindsey Parker), Dad (Nolan Thomaswick) and puppeteers Gabriella Cain and Maegan Mosher.

Parents of preschoolers and early readers are no doubt familiar with the books of Mo Willems. Starting Jan. 12, CATCO is Kids puts a musical spin on the tale of Trixie and her stuffed green rabbit.

“Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical” will be staged Jan. 12-21 at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Ave. in the Discovery District. Tickets are $15 adults, $10 children. Like the popular book, the musical follows Trixie and her parents as they search high and low for her beloved Knuffle Bunny. Willems wrote the lyrics, which are accompanied by music from Michael Silversher.

The production features four Central Ohio students: Hannah Bank (Trixie), a freshman at New Albany High School; Gabriella Cain (ensemble/puppeteer), a freshman at Columbus School for Girls; Maegan Mosher (ensemble/puppeteer), a junior at Hamilton Township High School; and Lindsey Parker (ensemble/puppeteer), a junior at Pickerington High School North.
