Capriccio Youth Choir: CYC Summer Institute

Ages served: entering grades 2-12

Dates/times: 7/17-7/18; full day (6+ hours)

Description: A two-day intensive to improve a singer's music literacy, ensemble development and personal vocal technique. Open to any singers, it is directed by the CYC professional staff as well as guest musicians, clinicians and teachers. Camp ends in a performance.

Cost: $30 members; $60 for all other singers; registration deadline is June 29

City of Upper Arlington: Arts Academy

Ages served: 13-17

Dates/times: 7/9-7/13; full day (6+ hours)

Description: In this camp, students learn from local musicians how to play guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. We cover performance, basic notation and tablature, stage presence and style, rhythm, harmony, songwriting and microphone techniques.

Cost: $275 resident, $325 nonresident

Creative Strings: Creative Strings Workshop 2018

Ages served: 10-15

Dates/times: 7/3-7/7; half day (2-5 hours)

Description: The Creative Strings Workshop Youth Program is an opportunity for string players to learn fiddle, blues, rock, world music and jazz with artists from around the world. Students study composing, electric instruments and improvisation. No class July 4.

GROOVE U: Write • Record • Play

Ages served: 13-19

Dates/times: 6/4-6/9; half day (2-5 hours)

Description: Spend a week at GROOVE U's state-of-the-art creative campus and experience the song-creation process from start to finish. Students will learn the tips and tricks of songwriting and produce their song using cutting-edge recording gear.

The Ohio State University School of Music: Youth Summer Music Programs

Ages served: grades 4-9

Dates/times: Call for specific dates; half day (2-5 hours)

Description: The Ohio State School of Music offers three programs for young musicians. Morning String Student Workshop, Middle School Concert Band Academy and Summer Singers are designed to further students' understanding of and love for music.

Otterbein University: Summer Music Experience

Description: Be surrounded by other students who share a passion and energy for music. Students will develop new insights into themselves as a musician and a performer, build confidence and challenge themselves in a week of intensive, real-world music study. Overnight option is available.

WeJoySing: Heart Strings Early Childhood Music

Ages served: 1 month to 5 years

Dates/times: 6/4-8/4; less than 2 hours

Description: Discover how babies, toddlers and preschoolers learn and grow through musical play. Listening, language, movement, social and cognitive development are stimulated as you “play” together, creating bonds that will last a lifetime. Four-week session meets once a week.
