Daily Bulletin: Celebrating Mom

Julanne Hohbach

Mother’s Day is coming up fast. For families with older kids, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep things fresh. Sure, flowers and store-bought presents or gift cards make Mom feel appreciated. But if you’re looking for something with a more personal touch, we’ve got some ideas—and almost all of them will work even at the last minute.

Plan a meal.

A number of local restaurants are having special Mother’s Day brunches. Or make her a meal at home. If that French toast in the above photo looks tasty, you can find the recipe in this story from The Columbus Dispatch. Want to try something more ambitious? Check out our Cooking with Kids feature, with a child-friendly take on Crab Cake Benedict.

Make a handmade card or craft.

Trust us, she’ll love that the kids invested the time and effort. Try the paper flowers on Page 25 of our May issue. Find the e-edition HERE if you don’t have a copy handy. Want more ideas? Search our website for “Olivera Bratich” who creates our monthly Hands On craft.
