We’ve got exciting news for two upcoming events related to area vendors! First up is Capital City Cakes, which will compete in tomorrow’s episode of Discover Family’s Bake It Like Buddy.

“We’re just very, very honored to be chosen out of all the bakeries in the United States,” says Sue Baisden, who owns the bakery with her husband, Gary. “It was an amazing experience; we went there and had so much fun with them.” The biggest honor, she adds, was how they got on the show: Producers sought them out—not the other way around—inviting them via email to apply last October, while the Baisdens were planning their 40th wedding anniversary party.

Bake It Like Buddy pits two baking teams—usually family units of some kind—against one another in a themed, four-hour challenge. “We had to come up with a plan, we had to come up with a design and get that all done in four hours,” Sue says. “Gary and I have worked together and been husband and wife for 40 years, so we kind of work off each other. So once the cameras started rolling, it was like, game face on.”

Sue says being surrounded by the cameras didn’t faze her, though. “To be honest, I barely even knew they were there; I was so focused on getting it done,” she says.

The Baisdens taped their show, which is set to air at 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, on the 41st anniversary of their first date and first kiss. Their 41st wedding anniversary is this month.
