Our Favorite Photo: Maria and Heath Donohue

Emma Frankart Henterly

For the Donohues, romanticism and emotion go a long way. Maria and Heath, who wed Oct. 20, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, each chose a sentimental shot for their favorite wedding-day photos. Maria’s is an image of the handkerchief her mother made for her, which she carried throughout the ceremony.

“I spent the night before my wedding at my parents’ house,” she explains. “My mom gave me a handkerchief that she had made with lace from her own wedding gown. I didn’t know Hillary [Ferguson, of Hillary Ferguson Photography] took this picture, and when I saw it, it brought back all of the emotions I experienced when my mom first gave it to me.”

While Maria’s choice was unexpected, a classic must-snap image—the first kiss—is the top pick for Heath.

“It was our first kiss as husband and wife,” he explains. “That will always be a special moment.”
